Our Upcoming Concert
Mozart, Bach & Tchaikovsky
Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nactmusik is iconic, recognisable and much loved. Violinist Carolin Widmann ignites J.S. Bach’s A minor Violin Concerto, full of magical melodies. Be seduced by the emotive beauty of Tchaikovsky's glorious Souvenir de Florence in Tallaght, Limerick, Newport Co. Mayo, and Wexford from the 10-13 April.
Peter & The Wolf
Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf tells the tale of Peter who captures a hungry wolf with the help of some animal friends. A brilliant ICO wind quintet blows plenty of drama on this classic tale at the West Wicklow Chamber Music Festival on Sunday 19 May. One for all the family!
The Story of a Cello
French Cellist Camille Thomas enchants with her flawless technique and sensitive string playing. A concerto by CPE Bach stands tall alongside nuggets by August Franchomme, whose Stradivarius cello she has inherited. Katherine Hunka and ICO embellish treats from Grieg and Sibelius on Sunday 19 May.
Trumpet sounds
Tine Thing Helseth has the gift of turning the simplest, most ordinary music into gold! She blows her own trumpet on 9 and 10 May in Limerick and Dublin, whisking us away from Europe to South America with fabulous tunes and global warming! Elgar, Grieg, Bacewicz, Neruda and Piazzolla will captivate and charm you.
Seeking Schubert
Join us for drama and emotion with Schubert. Let your creative juices flow with his Scherzo in D-flat major before delving into Schubert's enigmatic Unfinished, full of gorgeous melodies. Mozart’s Horn Concerto brims with gaiety while Beethoven’s turbulent Coriolan Overture sets the pace for a roller-coaster with Thomas Zehetmair.
Education & Community
An ICO Quartet performs for Cook Medical staff on 11 April, introducing staff to ICO with a mindful and relaxing lunch break, while aligning to Cook’s Wellness Program. A Meet the Musician workshop with Wexford Sinfonia takes place prior to our Wexford concert on 13 April. Finally, we collaborate with celebrated Limerick Rapper Hazey Haze through a series of creative workshops at St Mary’s N.S and Le Chéile N.S. Students will explore rap composition and use of spoken verse in readiness for their ICO Schools Gala Concert on 15 May.
