Artistic Team
We believe that artistic excellence is developed by constant collaboration. And over the years, in that spirit of exploration, we have worked with and been influenced by many incredible artists.
For 26 years, from 1999 - 2025, we performed under orchestra leader Katherine Hunka, whose style and personality coloured the character of the orchestra. Former Principal Conductor and Artistic Partner Jörg Widmann also had a profound influence on our work during his tenure between 2011 - 2022. His irrepressible energy and pursuit of excellence brought us to new heights of success. As of August 2025, our Artistic Partner is the extraordinary Norwegian Violinist Henning Kraggerud. His leadership has opened up new artistic horizons for us.
Our musicians share a rare rapport, forged over 20 years of performance. This openness and spirit of collaboration has attracted outstanding international performers such as Florian Donderer, Sean Shibe, Brett Dean, Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Ruth Killius, Tabea Zimmermann, Igor Levit, and Elisabeth Leonskaja. Kristian Bezuidenhout is currently the Associate Artist at the Irish Chamber Orchestra.
