Our composers wear the hearts of their homelands on their sleeve. Elgar’s reflection of a Welsh holiday captivates with its ravishing and richly textured melody. Czech-born Neruda’s Trumpet concerto enthrals with virtuosic mastery which Nordic Trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth dispatches with winning panache. Helseth demonstrates the beauty of her homeland in colourful snapshot songs by Grieg. A glimpse of Polish soil as Bacewicz’s lively work is laid bare with verve and imagination by ICO before being drawn to Summer on the streets of Buenos Aires, a colourful, sensual, and evocative portrait. Prepare to be swept away by the infectious trumpet tangos of Piazzolla performed by the ever-astonishing Tine Thing Helseth.
