J.S. Bach Double Violin Concerto in D minor
This programme begins with Haydn’s Seven Last Words - a quiet, powerful meditation inspired by the Crucifixion. From there, Mozart’s Adagio and Fugue bursts in with storm and fire, an intricate chase of sound.
Bach brings the light and lifts the spirit. His Violin Concerto in E Major shimmers with joy, while his Double Violin Concerto gives us two voices in conversation - echoing, clashing, dancing.
And alongside all of this, a brand-new piece from Donnacha Dennehy. Woven is a striking duet for cello and marimba - a bold, unexpected pairing, full of sonic surprises.
