Aaron Azunda Akugbo showcases the trumpet, bringing brilliance, energy and exhilaration to every note. He blends music of American trailblazers, an Irish composer and one of America’s great musical storytellers. George Walker and Florence Price bring moments of warmth and reflection, while Irish composer Sam Perkin gives the trumpet its own voice. Jessie Montgomery and Eric Ewazen bring colour, energy and drive, before Bernstein’s West Side Story Suite takes over with its bold, electric sound.
