September Updates
Sellouts, Schumann, Berlin and Christmas!
We are thrilled to open our season with a Mozart Homage on 12 and 13 September in Limerick and Waterford. Mozart's radiant Divertimento, Schnittke's kaleidoscopic Moza-Art à la Haydn and Tchaikovksy's sensational Serenade for Strings will simply enthrall. Join Katherine Hunka and the orchestra for some surprises along the way.
Schumann the Romantic
Experience the wizardry of Widmann in a programme full of love! Delight in Schumann’s Overture, Scherzo, and Finale inspired by his marriage. Be amazed at the beauty of Widmann’s own Chorale Quartet. Finally, Schumann’s irresistable Spring Symphony will immerse and delight audiences on Saturday 5 October in Limerick.
Mozart Requiem
Put Irish Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Choir Ireland, a host of brilliant soloists together under the baton of Thomas Zehetmair and you have a sellout! Mozart’s Requiem is pure gold – genial, stunningly beautiful and full of compassion and has already sold out in Dublin on 17 November.
Zeitgeist Ireland 24
Mozart's Requiem hits Berlin on Saturday 23 November, as part of Zeitgeist Irland 24, an initiative of Culture Ireland and the Embassy of Ireland in Germany. On Sunday 24 November, we bring a taste of home with Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh as Róisín Reimagined blends Muireann’s exquisite vocals with new arrangements of sean nós songs. Two great ICO performances at Elisabeth Church, Berlin.
Choral Christmas
Tickets are already selling for our Choral Christmas extravaganza. Extracts from Britten’s ever popular Ceremony of Carols, interspersed with his Simple Symphony, will enchant audiences alongside treats by Torelli, Mozart and Warlock. An amalgam of popular carols, old and new, will lift spirits in another Christmas cracker in Limerick, and Dublin on 13 and 14 December.
Education & Community
Our theme is shared spaces, shared culture and shared fun!
See our ICO Youth adding volume to Buster Keaton's Scarecrow at Full Moon Rising Festival on Saturday 14 September in Kilmeedy. From there to Bangers and Crash with Composer Brian Irvine at the Lime Tree Theatre on 17 September, followed by the Hunt Museum on Culture Night, 20 September @ 5.30pm. Over the Halloween weekend both ICO Schools and ICO Youth will perform at St. Mary's Cathedral on 26 September @ 4.00pm. Lots more to come!
