"My daughter has Autism and it (ICO Schools) has been her one source of confidence, and also the solitary thing that she has stuck with as she has a new interest every other week except for her music. She is always encouraged and supported by the most fantastic, caring and devoted group of teachers.”

Kilkenny Arts Festival
On Thursday 15 August we return to St. Canice’s Cathedral with an eclectic programme, mixing old with new, including Vaughan Williams’ gorgeous, ethereal Fantasia and Mozart’s heartbreaking Symphony No. 40. Enjoy an Irish premiere of Wallen’s imaginative Dances for Orchestra, full of colourful foot-tapping rhythms – a real treat!

MOZART HOMAGE
Katherine Hunka directs a radiant autumnal offering. Delight in the brilliance of Mozart’s youthful Divertimento, the mischief and fun of Schnittke’s Moz-Art à la Haydn alongside Tchaikovsky’s much loved Serenade for Strings in Limerick and Waterford on 12 & 13 September.

We announced our latest Strategy, Beyond the Notes at UCH, Limerick and RIAM, Dublin in May. It outlines our ongoing journey of development and discovery; extending reach and collaborating with a wide range of distinguished artistic partners to create unique musical experiences for you nationally and internationally.

Education & Community
From Kilkee to Italy - ICO YOUTH are on the move!
On 24 May, ICO Youth performed a mixed repertoire of favourites with Pianist Luke Byrne at The People's Museum of Limerick to a delighted capacity house. On 15 June, they perform at Cultúrlann Sweeney, Kilkee as part of the Cruinniú na nÓg annual celebrations. Looking ahead, a group of ICO Youth members and tutors will attend SEYO 2024 in Pesaro and Urbino, Italy in July. This weeklong summer camp, for European Youth Orchestras features workshops, master classes and performances. What an exciting opportunity for our young members.

Seeking Schubert
Join us for drama and emotion with Schubert. Be mesmerized by his re-imagined Scherzo in D-flat major before delving into Schubert's enigmatic Unfinished, full of gorgeous melodies. Mozart’s Horn Concerto brims with gaiety while Beethoven’s turbulent Coriolan Overture sets the pace for another roller-coaster with Thomas Zehetmair on 13 and 14 June in Dublin and Limerick.

Midsummer Magic
We are thrilled to be a part of UCH’s Proms Weekend. On Saturday 22 June Midsummer Magic time-travels through the ages with a host of all-time favourite arias, overtures, waltzes and more. Acclaimed Soprano Anna Devin will mesmerize audiences as Wyn Davies returns to conduct ICO in this glorious summer celebration.
