Irish Chamber Orchestra announced its latest Strategy, Beyond the Notes at UCH, Limerick and RIAM, Dublin on the 9 and 10 May.

Beyond the Notes outlines ICO’s ongoing journey of development and discovery; extending reach and collaborating with a wide range of distinguished artistic partners to create unique musical experiences for its audiences both nationally and internationally.

"Thanks to the generous support of The Arts Council of Ireland, this strategy demonstrates our ambition and provides a framework for decision-making and resource allocation. It also outlines how we continue to build on our organization while defining our artistic programming and future focus"

Aibhlín McCrann, Chair.

ICO enriches lives through its community engagement and its outstanding performances nationwide and beyond.

ICO is immersed in community work and education across Limerick. Its successful ICO Schools programme continues with the support of philanthropic partnerships which sustains the initiative in communities across the city.

As orchestra-in-residence at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, at the University of Limerick, ICO’s post graduate degree programme in Classical String Performance continues to attract students from all over the world. ICO values it creative association with the University where it has its own purpose-built studio.

At a time when climate change is making headlines, the environment is a growing concern for the classical music industry. ICO is working to address its environmental impact and decrease its carbon footprint as outlined in this new strategy Beyond the Notes.

“Excellence, inclusivity, engagement, collaboration, and innovation are the hallmarks of what we do. These values reinforce our ambition and our desire for excellence. Beyond the Notes is another milestone on ICO’s journey to present exhilarating performances of classical and contemporary repertoire to as many people as possible”

Gerard Keenan, CEO.
