Britten’s Variations On A Theme by Frank Bridge were dedicated to his first teacher and are remarkably diverse, stylistic vignettes.  Elgar’s brilliant take on the concerto grosso – his Introduction and Allegro – brought him international fame. These two iconic, twentieth-century works, bookend David Fennessy’s Hirta Rounds, an ethereal piece by one of Ireland’s most accomplished composers.
