Past Present Future

The Irish Chamber Orchestra’s  Sing Out with Strings programme celebrates its 8th birthday in true party style with a fabulous show Past, Present, Future.

300 children from Le Cheile N.S. and St Mary’s N.S. join the Irish Chamber Orchestra with special guests for a colourful celebration in association with Millennium Theatre, LIT, Limerick

Past Present Future does exactly what is says on the tin!  In this commemorative and reflective year, the children have unearthed a treasure trove of shared musical memories, favourite songs and melodies.  Taking these to the next level,  the children reworked them, happily mixing traditional  with present-day contemporary sounds, successfully re-imagining a brighter future, performing a mix of old and futuristic sounds.   Additionally, the children have written and composed six new songs which have been orchestrated in collaboration with the Irish Chamber Orchestra. As always, this fast-paced, imaginative toe-tapping musical journey features favourites such as The Sally Gardens, Sea Shanties, Star Wars, Lollipop Tree, Shoe My Donkey and so much more.

Sing Out with Strings has a reputation for its joyous, uplifting and inspirational performances.   The programme provides free tuition in singing, song writing, violin and cello to 300 children on a weekly basis throughout Limerick City. The purpose is to develop not only musical skills, but key life skills using music as a tool for tangible social change.
