The Irish Chamber Orchestra’s Sing Out with Strings programme celebrates its 9th birthday in true party style with a fabulous show Music Moves You.
300 children from Le Cheile N.S. and St Mary’s N.S. join the Irish Chamber Orchestra with special guests (including musicians from Thomond Community College) for a colourful celebration in the University Concert Hall, Limerick on May 31st. The ICO will be accompanying their young colleagues through a delicious mix of music comprising, Classical, Rap, Blue Grass and original songs composed by the children themselves. Come join us as we celebrate the youthful expression of melodies, rhythms, harmonies and sounds to help move your body and soul.
Sing Out with Strings has a reputation for its joyous, uplifting and inspirational performances. Based on the immersive Venezuelan ‘El Sistema’ music programme, and with its heart in Community Music, the programme provides free tuition in singing, song writing, violin, viola, cello and double bass on a weekly basis in Limerick City. The purpose is to develop not only musical skills, but key life skills – Driving Change Through Music.
A special word of thanks to Music Network’s Music Capital Scheme for their generous funding last year which allowed us to expand into a full string orchestra.
The Irish Chamber Orchestra is funded by the Arts Council of Ireland. www.irishchamberorchestra.com
