On Thursday May the 17th, the ICO Chorus joins forces with the County Limerick Youth Choir and guest choir Seoda for a dramatic choral concert at St. Mary’s Cathedral celebrating the extraordinary music of Eric Whitacre and Morten Lauridsen.

Eric Whitacre is one of the most popular and performed composers of our time.  His best-selling CD Cloudburst topped the classical charts while Light and Gold earned him a Grammy award.

Music by Morten Lauridsen grips and compels audiences and it’s no wonder his music occupies a permanent place in the contemporary vocal repertoire.  His seven major vocal cycles feature regularly in concerts by distinguished ensembles worldwide. O Magnum Mysterium, O Nata Lux (from Lux Aeterna) and Dirait-on (from Les Chansons des Roses) have become the all-time best selling choral octavos and you will hear all three at this stunning concert.

Don’t miss these three great local choirs – the ICO Chorus was founded in 2008 by the Irish Chamber Orchestra and has been performing locally since at the MBNA International Music Festival, The Hunt Museum and at University Concert Hall with the National Chamber Choir.  The County Limerick Youth Choir was established in 2006 by the County Arts Office and has already garnered accolades in several competitions including the Cork Choral Festival. Máire Keary Scanlon directs both choirs and is also founder and director of the multi-award winning women’s choir Seoda.

We wish to acknowledge the generous support of Limerick County Arts Office
